About Us

Greetings,

If you are reading this, then you have somehow stumbled into our family's passion project.

Congrats and Welcome! Vedas Closet is the manifestation of some of the aspects of life which we love and hold dear, such as: the use of authentic and natural materials, traditional production methods, and the preservation of indigenous communities.

Meet the Potdars!

Desa was born and raised in Canada to parents who had emigrated from Serbia. Surviving a tumultuous upbringing and adolescence, led her to question and search for greater meaning to life. Desa found solace through the ancient Vedic scriptures and has been on a spiritual path of Yoga the past two decades. Leaving school early on, it was a huge accomplishment to achieve a Masters, work in the nonprofit industry and eventually in social, start-ups in the San Francisco Bay Area. During a period of personal reflection and discontent, Desa travelled to India where she met her husband, Anurag. She is currently studying Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) under the guidance of the esteemed Jyotishi, Pandit Sanjay Rath.

Anurag was born and raised in a small village on the boarder of Maharashtra and Karnataka in India. He mostly led a simple life that was pretty quiet, centered around family, friends and local religious festivals. Very often you could find him playing cricket, basketball or the local game, Kabadhi. Leaving home to pursue an Automobile Engineering Diploma, Anurag spent several years working in the industry. During his own period of discontent, he left his career to pursue the family jewellery business, which is when he met Desa. And well, the rest is history.

While in India, we welcomed our baby girl, Veda. She is a huge part of the inspiration for the name, Vedas Closet! A bubbly and happy one-year-old, she offers us lots of little breaks from our work throughout the day and can often be found somewhere near our heels or munching away on vegetarian snacks. Some of her interests and pastimes include playing, dancing and repeatedly opening the cupboards. Oh yeah, and she also LOVES dogs!

We wanted to start a small buinsess that would keep us together for most of our days, while supporting indigenous communities in India and sharing the Vedic knowledge we've been blessed with. So, that's how Vedas Closet was born!

We hope you enjoy our offerings and wish you all the best in the world!
